BASF appoints new Environmental Stewardship Manager

BASF Crop Protection has appointed Mike Green as Environmental Stewardship Manager for its UK and Ireland operations.

Mike brings with him 30 years of agronomy and environmental experience, including from his most recent role as National Specialist Arable Farmland Conservation at Natural England and prior to this as a consultant at ADAS.

Mike’s role at BASF will focus on leading and implementing the agri-environmental aspects of the BASF Crop Protection Sustainability Strategy for the Crop Protection UK and Ireland business.

Mike, who will operate from East Yorkshire, said: “This is a fascinating time to be involved in the agri-environmental sector and I am really looking forward to my new role at BASF.

“We are at a pivotal point, where the demands for more food production need to be balanced more than ever against sustainability and effective environmental management across the whole farm business.”

Mike’s previous roles have demanded innovation and technical expert leadership, and he also brings extensive experience in technical agronomy, environmental stewardship and building partnerships with stakeholders.

Mike, whose work has resulted in important environment objectives being integrated into government policy, added: “I am excited by the opportunity to proactively shape and respond to developing agri-environmental trends as part of a progressive multinational company.
