Fledgling Agrochemical business hopes to inspire and reward the next generation of Agriculture professionals

Gemini Agriculture is delighted to announce the launch of the 2019 Gemini Agriculture award. Following the success of the inaugural Award, presented at Cereals in June 2018, Gemini Agriculture is delighted once again offer students the chance to win a £350 cash prize by submitting their final year project dissertation for consideration. The Award is open to all BSc Hons students completing a final year dissertation on an agronomy-related subject.

James Kennedy, co-founder and commercial director of Gemini Agriculture commented “We were delighted with the engagement, quality and range of submissions received for last year’s award. As a result of this success, we have decided to make the Gemini Agriculture Award an annual offering. We hope the award will encourage students to recognise that their university projects do not simply serve to secure marks towards a degree classification, but their findings may also have a significant impact on the industry.”

Last year’s Gemini Agriculture Award was won by Alice Clews, whose dissertation investigating rooting traits in old and modern wheat varieties was chosen by the judging panel as an excellent example of research and investigation at BSc level. Alice, who graduated from Harper Adams University last summer said “I was delighted when my project was recognised by Gemini Ag at Cereals as it highlighted the success of the project as well as the importance of different methods for crop protection for the future of cereal production in the UK.” Alice was also part of the University’s Cereal Challenge team and has since embarked on a career with Syngenta.

Dissertations submitted by Joseph Hodgson also from Harper Adams and Alexander Quayle from the Royal Agricultural University were also shortlisted and were highly commended by the judging panel.
