Jason Burgess has been appointed chair of British Growers Association. Jason has extensive experience of the fresh produce industry as a director of leading vegetable producer Produce World, and has been on the board at British Growers for a number of years.

Under chief executive Jack Ward, British Growers is looking to grow the range of services and support that it provides to the industry. The Association currently looks after the interests of 24 grower organisations including crop associations, Producer Organisations and marketing groups.

Welcoming the appointment, Jack Ward said: “It is incredibly helpful to have someone of Jason’s experience, ability and standing in the sector to lead the Board of British Growers. As the industry gears up to approach the uncertain future following Brexit, it opens up opportunities and challenges in equal measure.

“Our role at British Growers is to support the sector, maximise the opportunities and meet the challenges. The Board plays a critical role in guiding and directing the executive team at Louth to provide the right services and maintain its relevance.”
