Precision farming specialist launches RTK radio network and service contract

An East Yorkshire precision farming specialist has launched a unique RTK radio network package to improve efficiencies in the field.

Lunched at YAMS earlier this month, TerraNet has been developed by Andrew Manfield from Market Weighton based Manterra Ltd in response to a growing need for a one stop network access, service support and on farm training package for farmers in the North of England.

Of the launch, farmer and agronomist Andrew Manfield said: “Designed for users of Trimble, Case and New Holland precision farming technologies, TerraNet radio correction signal is competitively priced at £450 per tractor, with discounts for multiple licences. A second machine costs £400, third and subsequent machines cost £350 to put on the network when owned by one business. Subscribers to the network can roam around the network from base to base at no additional cost, giving farmers and contractors the flexibility they need in the modern agricultural world.

“We are launching our service package at the same time as TerraNet. For an annual fee of £150 for the first vehicle, and £50 for subsequent machines, the customer gets an annual farm visit during which the integrity of the system will be checked and software updated to the latest standards. However, the big innovation is that this visit will also include onsite training for staff in areas which have been agreed before the visit. All too often technology on farm is not optimised as staff have, quite understandably, forgotten the details of how to operate it over the winter months.

Customers who subscribe to both the service contract and Terranet will get a discount on the cost of the service plan. The result is a package of service and support which directly addresses the most pressing needs of the industry.”

Manterra is the key technology supplier to the Stockbridge Technology Centre’s Tru-Nject precision farming project that secured Innovate UK funding for a trial to commercialise innovative soil nutrient mapping technology that has the potential to revolutionise farming practices.

Manterra is also an authorised reseller for Trimble precision agriculture systems.
