Karen is the new trailed sprayer range from Kuhn. It offers four capacities from 4,500 litres up to 8,000 litres, with three specification levels and steel or aluminium booms up to 45m.
Initially, Karen will be available in the Power version, equipped with Manuset & Diluset and featuring booms ranging from 24 to 39 m with 50 cm nozzle spacing.
Kuhn claims operator safety has been a priority. A next-generation induction hopper can absorb up to 220 L/min of liquid product, minimising the operator’s exposure time. For even greater protection, the hopper can be pre-equipped for CTS (Closed Transfer System) technology. Karen can be equipped with Kuhn’s PWM technology, Autospray.
The Autoset solution system enables tank filling at 900 L/min and spraying up to 500 L/min. Two 360° rotating nozzles ensure fast and thorough cleaning of the main tank.
Later, two additional versions, an essential model and a high-end model, will be added to the catalogue. These will include the XEA3 boom and the I-SPRAY spot spraying technology with cameras.
This new Eagle smart contour control system automatically adjusts and actively controls the boom, even under changing crop conditions or varying types of terrain. Kuhn claims boom height consistency even at speeds of up to 25 km/h.
Throughout the development, efforts have been made to keep the machine compact and lightweight. The Karan only extends to 5m in length in the 5200 and 6000 specifications, and the overall weight has been dropped to 5,690kg for a 6,000-litre model with a 36m boom.
The Track-Matic steering axle has a steering angle of 28 degrees to follow the tractor on headlands and when turning onto tramlines, helping to reduce soil and crop damage.
Maintenance of the pump has also been improved, with an integrated winch that allows it to be removed in just 15min. The tank has a removable sump and tank roof, allowing access to components without having to enter the machine.
