“British made, low till and no till seeding technology with precision down-force control”

The new DSX Coulter will be available to the UK market as of February 2020 and brings some exciting never seen before technology to British farmers.

The target of this low disturbance coulter is to move as little soil as possible during seeding while providing consistent depth leading to strong emergence.

Each disc coulter is mounted to the drill using a cast steel parallel linkage which is maintenance free, meaning maximum time in the field when conditions are good to go. The narrow design ensures effective seeding into previous crop residues or cover crops and the optional air actuated row cleaners create a clean band ahead of the disc. With 300mm of vertical travel even the most arduous of conditions are handled with ease ensuring the disc will always follow the ground profile. Row spacing can be 16.70cm, 18.75cm, 20.00cm or 25.00cm and if wider widths are required the disc units can be raised and locked in place helping to reduce wear and soil disturbance.

One of the unique features of the DSX system is the the option to install sectional down pressure control. Not only is the new drill designed to provide up to 300kg or more of downforce to the coulters the profile of the slanted cutting disc ensures this is rarely required. Being able to cut into the soil at an angle reduces downforce and the risk of compacting the seed furrow to impact on germination and emergence.

A Precision Planting SRM module sits behind the coulter and uses a load pin on the rear depth wheel to sense the ground conditions and provide the optional SeederForce sectional downforce control. Once a pressure is set and if the rear load pin senses a change then additional pressure is applied to the disc, ensuring all seeds are planted at the correct depth for optimal emergence and slot closure.

Simple and quick depth settings are manually adjusted without tools using a locking pin system and can be fine-tuned using the rear closing wheel, Row by row depth settings mean different seeds can be simultaneously sown in partner cropping situations and an optional firming tab behind the coulter ensures seeds are precisely held in the furrow before being firmed by the following wheel.

The gauge wheels running next to each disc have been specifically designed for high trash clearance with optional front row cleaners and feature a narrow spoke design helping to keep them clear of any mud or trash build up.
