United Oilseeds to outline why rape still warrants its place in the rotation

United Oilseeds will use the Cereals 2019 to meet UK growers and provide insight into the future of the rape in the arable rotation.

With autumn planting decisions top of mind, growers can meet staff from the farmer-owned cooperative to discuss how the growing and marketing of rapeseed will evolve and progress in the coming years.

United Oilseeds will have fresh data available to existing and potential members of the group demonstrating representative gross margins for rape compared with other winter-drilled crops.

This will include an exciting opportunity for growers to learn about the HOLL (high oleic and low linolenic) varieties which, through United Oilseeds, comes with a guaranteed premium of at least £25/tonne and the assurance of free seed if the crop fails to establish, subject to terms and conditions.

Growers interested in a conventional seed for 2019 planting can learn about Acacia – the variety with the highest UK gross output on the AHDB Candidate List.

Those looking for a hybrid may consider Aurelia, which is the highest yielding hybrid variety on the Candidate List with RLM7 protection against stem canker and resistance to TuYV and pod shatter.

Acacia and Aurelia are exclusively available through United Oilseeds this year.

Advice on increasing the potential for good establishment through drilling techniques and varietal choice will also be available with the group’s experts providing a summary of the innovations in crop protection which are expected to strengthen establishment and output for years to come.
