YEN evaluation added to Agronomy Exchange agenda

Joining the agenda for next month’s Agronomy Exchange conference is a review of 13 years of Yield Enhancement Network (YEN) data.

Many were disappointed to hear of the decision to curtail the YEN programme, harvest 25 being the last season for cereals and oilseeds results.

The vast dataset, comprising thousands of crop yields built over so many harvests, enabled ADAS to pinpoint the causes behind yield variation – weather being only part of the puzzle. “YEN provided us with definitive proof that, with a detail-oriented farming approach, 15 t/ha winter wheat yields are feasible almost anywhere in the UK,” says YEN founder Roger Sylvester-Bradley.

Roger will take delegates through those seasons and highlight some of the key learnings when it comes to sink or source capacity.

Roger will be joined by Velcourt technical director Nick Anderson in what promises to be an engaging session. Velcourt has developed a novel trials programme evaluating wheat and oilseed blends, with some interesting initial results.
