Longcliffe Quarries Ltd is making a multi-million-pound investment in a new plant to produce granulated lime.
The new granulated lime product, which can be spread at any time of the year when ground conditions allow, will provide farmers with high purity, reactive lime to optimise soil pH, improve soil structure, increase calcium availability and enhance crop health. It offers flexible application, rapid absorption and increased fertiliser efficiency, leading to improved yields.
Longcliffe has supplied agricultural lime since 1927 and already offers a well-established range of high purity lime products through its two Derbyshire quarries. The new plant will see the company further develop its agricultural product range and its support for farmers in their drive to improve soil quality and maximise their grass and arable yields.
Longcliffe’s engineering and continuous improvement manager, Mark Whittaker, who is project managing the construction of the new plant, says: “We are pleased to say that this milestone project for Longcliffe is well underway and on track for completion by the end of the year, and we look forward to getting the product out to the market.”
