After a fast start to window 1 of the 2026 SFI, Defra has announced that 50% has now been allocated, based on applications received so far.
Defra said it will provide updates when funding milestones are reached and will provide another when approximately 75% of the £60 million Window 1 budget has been allocated. After the strong start, which happened on the first day of the scheme’s opening, applications have now levelled out, with the range of uptake in line with expectations.
Eligible applicants who do not apply during Window 1 will have the opportunity to apply during Window 2. Window 2 is expected to open in September.
