A new specialist growth and delivery business has been launched to help UK arable businesses turn promising crop, soil, input and precision-farming ideas into well-managed trials for commercially workable outcomes.

Founded by former CHAP and UK Agri-Tech Centre colleagues Darren Hassall and Corrie-Anne Holden, Concept to Commercial will support arable farms and their advisers in testing new crop varieties, biologicals, crop-protection approaches, soil-management practices, machinery, sensors and decision-support tools.

It will help growers build a funding case by identifying suitable UKRI and Innovate UK opportunities, help find partners, prepare bids, establish project governance and manage collaborative delivery, reporting, financial claims and Monitoring Officer liaison.

The company says it can also help structure field trials, coordinate growers, agronomists, researchers and technology suppliers, and ensure that evidence is presented in a form that supports practical uptake.

Darren Hassall and Corrie-Anne Holden, Co-Founders of Concept to Commercial, said: “Arable innovation is judged in the field. Growers and agronomists need to understand whether a new approach works under commercial conditions, what it changes operationally and whether the return justifies adoption.

“Generating that evidence can involve several farms and partners, external funding, seasonal work plans, careful reporting and a clear route from technical results to a commercial decision. Strong ideas can lose momentum when the project and commercial work around the trial is under-resourced.

“Concept to Commercial has been created to take responsibility for that work. The business will help partners secure funding, manage delivery and turn evidence from arable trials into practical outcomes that growers, advisers and technology businesses can act on.”
