Yagro will launch its Crop Margins Calculator at this year’s Cereals Event. It is designed to give growers an indication of crop gross margins based on a few key parameters such as yield, inputs and anticipated sales price. “Many growers don’t know their true gross margin until the financial year end. This is designed to give growers an indication of likely crop margins based on some basic data input,” says the company’s Luke Sayer.
Visitors can also play an agricultural version of TV game show Play Your Cards Right. Based on crop cost of production (COP), those closest to their COP estimate and actual figures win prizes. “With the risks involved in farming today, it has never been more important for farmers to know their numbers. It helps growers make the right decisions around risk and improving efficiency,” he adds.
