FMC Corporation has received registration for its Isoflex herbicide technology with Fundatis, a ZC formulation of bixlozone plus beflubutamid. It will be available in time for this autumn as a pre- and peri-emergence option in winter wheat and pre-emergence in winter barley.
The company says it provides a significant new tool in the herbicide armoury, effectively contributing to the control of key annual grass weeds including meadowgrass, blackgrass and Italian ryegrass. Fundatis also treats a wide spectrum of broad-leaved weeds, including groundsel and speedwell. In trials, it has controlled some of the most challenging weed species in winter cereals.
“With its use in both wheat and barley, wide spectrum of broadleaf weed control and good activity against key grassweed species, we believe that Fundatis will be a valuable new addition for cereal growers when used as part of an integrated weed management strategy,” said Gareth Jones, technical leader, Northern Europe.
“Over reliance on a few well-established products, changes to on-farm land management practices and a complex regulatory landscape all mean that weed control challenges are evolving and we are excited to bring a product to market containing a new mode of action for cereals, giving growers the opportunity to diversify their approach and another option when planning their weed control strategies,” he notes.
According to EMEA Commercial Business Director, Northern Europe, John Hutton, the arrival of Fundatis is a major milestone in FMC’s drive and commitment to bring new and sustainable technologies to agriculture. “This demonstrates the strength of FMC’s robust pipeline and is a testament to the company’s ability to translate grower challenges into innovative solutions that will enhance the productivity and resilience of their crops. The registration in Great Britain marks another significant regulatory approval for FMC.”
