Kuhn Farm Machinery has announced a new 12.5m version of its Optimer disc cultivator, designed to work in controlled traffic farming systems (CTF).

The 12500 L means that the range now runs from 3m mounted up to 12.5m, with the flagship featuring a hundred 510mm diameter discs across two rows. Working depth ranges from 30mm down to 100mm and the unit is rounded out by a Double U 550mm rear roller.

The minimum power requirement is said to be 350hp.

Arable and connected services product specialist, Edd Fanshawe, said: “The Optimer range combines intensive mixing at high speed, with easy adjustment to suit conditions. The new 12500 L offers CTF users a stubble cultivator that can slot easily into existing systems and contribute to significantly lowering the number of wheelings during a season.”

It completes a new generation of the Optimer, which includes a 9m and 12m machine. Updates have included a new hydraulic stand, as well as a new folding and unfolding sequence which is activated with a single input.

Steady Control is standard, providing consistent working depth through adjustment of the hydraulic cylinders. It’s also possible to fit a series of small seed applicators to the machine.
