Kongskilde Agriculture has announced the introduction of a completely new slatted plough body at Agritechnica 2017. Developed especially for difficult soil conditions and larger tractors, the XSD slatted plough body completes the company’s comprehensive selection of innovative, wide-furrow ploughs.

The XSD slatted body follows the successful launch of the XLD conventional plough body that was introduced at Agritechnica 2015. A new generation that is designed for wide-furrow ploughing with large-scale tractors. At Kongskilde, expectations run high prior to the product launch at this year’s fair in Hannover, Germany.

The new XSD slatted plough body is designed for ploughing soil with a high “sticky” organic content or difficult clay soil. The slatted design ensures the soil can escape the mouldboard for maximum versatility and performance. At the same time, the slatted mouldboard provide a good break up of the turned soil, for example when ploughing clay soil.

XSD is a turning plough body of low draft requirement and designed for tractors with wide tyres up to 710 mm. Thanks to a patented helical design, it has an excellent turning of the furrows to cover all crop residues. It ploughs in depths of 12-30 cm with a working width of 35-55 cm.

The new plough body comes with well-known features like a broken furrow bottom to lower fuel consumption and to avoid ploughing pans. Further, it is designed for easy change of wearing parts that are heat-treated at 900 ºC for extended use. The points are reversible for lower running costs and the XSD plough body shares wearing parts with the XLD body to secure easy access to spare parts.

All Kongskilde ploughs can be equipped with the new XSD slatted body. It completes the line-up, offering a plough body for ploughing under all conditions. The Kongskilde plough line includes conventional ploughs, front-mounted, fully mounted, semi-mounted as well as on-land reversible ploughs, ranging from 2 to 10 furrows.

Ploughs equipped with XSD slatted bodies will be available on the market in a limited number at the beginning of 2018 and will be fully integrated in the product program from second half of 2018.

– Our expectations regarding the new XSD are high, especially for the German market where they have a long tradition for using slatted plough bodies, says Jens Christoffersen, product manager, Kongskilde Agriculture.
– For regions in the rest of Europe with difficult soil and clay soil we also expect to meet considerable interest in relation to the launch of the new XSD slatted plough body.
