Can you calculate your cost of production, and what can you do to reduce it? Is no-till the answer to improving soil health? How do you overcome a ban on neonicotinoid seed treatments, or a serious black-grass problem?

Bayer will be running a series of short discussion sessions at Cereals 2018 with guest speakers to help growers with practical advice in these areas.

“Whether it is the most pressing agronomic challenges, such as continuing to get on top of blackgrass or learning how to grow crops without neonic seed treatments, or looking at the bigger picture of remaining profitable post-Brexit and being able to meet potential new requirements for support payments, growers face an almost unprecedented period of challenge in the modern era,” says Neal Sanders, head of marketing for Bayer.

“That’s why we have pulled together a range of independent experts, alongside our own, to provide a series of discussion forums for growers to learn more about overcoming these challenges.”

Discussion forums will run each day and last about 15 minutes.

Visitors to the Bayer stand (557) will be able to take a walk down into a wheat trench to get a different perspective on disease control. The trench means growers will be able to see each leaf layer easily, and compare treated and untreated plots on each side.

Experts from the Bayer team will be available to discuss how to maximise disease control on each leaf layer, using products such as Ascra Xpro (bixafen + prothioconazole + fluopyram) and Aviator Xpro (bixafen + prothioconazole).

The popular grass weed screen display will also be returning, which highlights how existing and new chemistry work against different strains of black-grass, plus bromes, ryegrass, wild oats and annual meadow grass as part of an integrated control programme. As well as the recently launched new herbicide Monolith (mesosulfuron + propoxycarbazone), the treatments will feature an experimental new pre-emergence herbicide.

There will also be BASIS and NRoSO points available for successfully completing a questionnaire on stand.
