Nick and Lucy Tyler – recipients of The Cream Awards’ Climate Positive Agriculture award – are the latest addition to the LEAF Demonstration Farm Network.
Nick and Lucy are third-generation farmers running a closed-loop, regenerative system in Wiltshire with arable, a 460-cow dairy herd with 370 dairy replacements, 370 Wagyu cross beef cattle, marketed directly to local butchers, farm shops and a charcuterie company.
Their commitment to environmental sustainability is embedded throughout the business, from participation in agri-environment schemes and the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) to achieving LEAF Marque assurance in 2022.
Through the Resilient & Ready programme – a collaboration between LEAF and Corteva providing training, mentoring and technical support – the Tylers have implemented several pioneering approaches, including the use of biological alternatives to nitrogen fertilisers, more efficient farmyard manure management, and a newly established agroforestry project, funded by a Great Western Community Forest Trees for Climate grant and integrating both silvoarable and silvopasture systems.
LEAF CEO David Webster said: “Nick and Lucy are shining examples of how innovation, passion, and practical knowledge can come together to shape a truly sustainable future for farming. We are thrilled to welcome them into the LEAF Network and look forward to the valuable insights they will share with the wider farming community.”
