OCI Nitrogen has launched a new fertiliser, which it claims will boost NUE (nitrogen use efficiency).
Dynamax contains a combination of 27% nitrogen and 4% sulphur to support protein formation and more efficient nitrogen uptake.
OCI Nitrogen UK and Ireland sales manager Sam Leadbeater says: “The addition of sulphur helps plants use nitrogen more effectively by supporting the production of proteins and enzymes needed for nitrogen assimilation, enhancing overall nitrogen uptake and stronger crop growth.
“When nitrogen is applied with insufficient sulphur, the crop will struggle to efficiently convert it into protein and growth, increasing the risk of nitrogen leaching into watercourses.
“The nitrogen to sulphur in the product is suitable for all crops, with trial results showing it to increase yields by at least 7.6% for oilseed rape, 8.9% for winter barley, and 10% for grassland leys.”
Sam explains that sulphur delivers wider benefits than increased yields alone. “Improving NUE is becoming increasingly important, not just for crop performance but for reducing nutrient losses, which can be environmentally damaging.
“A surprising number of soil tests will show insufficient levels of sulphur, with AHDB research showing that sulphur applications deliver yield responses on up to 32 % of winter oilseed rape and around 10–15 % of cereal sites.”
By supplying nitrogen and sulphur together in a balanced formulation, the company says crops can make better use of applied nutrients, keeping more of the fertiliser where it’s needed.
Compatible with standard spreaders, Dynamax granules are designed to deliver even distribution to over 50 metres.
