PGRO trials have highlighted that the biological seed treatment AminoA Staart can help vining peas get off to a flying start by encouraging stronger early shoot development.
Glasshouse trials at PGRO Research, Thornhaugh, revealed treated seed achieved 98.0% emergence compared with 90.0% for untreated and greater crop uniformity with markedly fewer ‘short’ plants.
Later assessments also revealed longer shoots (15.7 cm vs 14.6 cm) and stronger root development.
Richard Phillips, managing director of AminoA, said: “Vining peas are a high-value, high-pressure crop and anything that reliably improves establishment and early vigour is extremely valuable to growers and processors alike.
“These independent PGRO datasets confirm what we have seen in our own trials across Europe. AminoA Staart gives crops the best possible start and being fully approved for organics, it is suitable for use on any crop.”
