Leading agricultural sciences company FMC has appointed three new team members following a period of company growth.

The firm says its new appointments – Michael Farr, Alex Borthwick and Mat Hutchings – all bring a wealth of experience from different agronomy-based roles across the industry.

Michael Farr, who holds both BASIS and FACTS qualifications as well as a strong background in new product development, joins the FMC team as key account manager.

In his new role, Mr Farr will be managing commercial distribution accounts and working alongside FMC’s technical team.

“I’m looking forward to joining the team in a focused, commercial role,” he says.

“The product pipeline is exciting and a key motivator for me, so I’m looking forward to playing a key part in its development.”

Commercial technical manager

Meanwhile, Alex Borthwick has joined FMC as commercial technical manager for the Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire region.

Mr Borthwick, who holds the BASIS Diploma in Agronomy and FACTS, has a background in independent agronomy and farm management, and brings a wealth of both practical on-farm and scientific knowledge.

He explains that he will be working in the technical team to support distribution customers to provide solutions to suit their farmers’ needs.

“FMC is a rapidly growing and diverse company, with new chemistry coming to the market in the near future,” adds Mr Borthwick.

“I’m looking forward to getting stuck in with the broad product portfolio and working with, and learning from, a dynamic team of in-house experts.”

The final new recruit at FMC is a further commercial technical manager – Mat Hutchings – who will be based in the South of England.

Extensive understanding

Following on from working in an agronomy business for the last six years, Mr Hutchings has an extensive understanding of the arable sector, and good experience of a customer-facing role.

He is looking forward to working with the team to deliver technical briefings and provide effective solutions for growers in the South.

Simon McMunn, FMC business director for Northern Europe, says the team is delighted to have the new starters on board to support the company in such an exciting period of growth.

“These new appointments will be a valuable asset which will strengthen our team as they support customers and farmers both now and into the future,” says Mr McMunn.
