Frontiers extends OSR de-risking partnership

Frontier’s oilseed rape de-risking partnership has re-opened for harvest 2026 with additional support for companion crops.

New for this year, however, is the addition of greater risk management support for companion crops as well.

Frontier states that this follows the recent closure of the Government’s Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme, which historically awarded payments for companion cropping under the IPM3 action.

Growers can set the payment date for both the companion crop and OSR seed 12 months after delivery provided it successfully establishes, while the cost of any failed crops will be covered by Frontier.

Involvement in the programme also includes support from Frontier’s technical advisors, with flexible market options available too. “We’re sharing the risk with growers. It is our agronomic advice; we are willing to back that and remove the financial risk associated with growing OSR,” explains technical advisor for Frontier’s environmental crops team, Will Pratt. “It’s part of our remit to champion OSR within the rotation, it’s such an important crop.”
