An expert with 20 years’ experience in the use of crop protection products has been appointed to the Technical Hotline for Corteva Agriscience, the agriculture division of DowDuPont.

Georgina Clayton, who lives on her family farm in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, will be part of the team which handles up to 40 enquiries a day from farmers and agronomists.

She spent two decades with one of Corteva’s heritage companies, DuPont, crossing technical and regulatory positions but says she is excited by the opportunity to provide direct support to those in the field.

“My love is for being able to fix problems for growers and getting the best out of products,” she said.

“Sometimes that takes a bit of detective work to find the best solution but that’s the sort of thing I like to do to help make growers’ and agronomists’ lives easier.”

Corteva’s Hotline provides vital information and advice to those using its own products either on their own or in mixes.

“The typical enquiries from the field relate to advice on application rates and tank mix compatibility,” Georgina explained.

“In years such as this, when the window for crop protection applications is squeezed by bad weather, the advice we give is essential as fungicides, herbicides, growth regulators and trace elements are frequently being applied together.

“We want to ensure that growers get the most out of every application by getting formulations right, be that for grassland, cereal or root crops.”

Growers and agronomists can call the Technical Hotline on 0800 689 8899 or email ukhotline@dow.com.
