Reaching net zero in farming is a cornerstone of the Agricultural Transition Plan and of Environmental Land Management (ELM) policy.

And with many farmers on board with the NFUs ambitions to reach net zero by 2040,the Low Carbon Agriculture show, an online event coming March 2021, will see an expert panel of speakers debate the stepping stones needed to get there.

Chairing the ‘Reaching Net Zero in Agriculture’ debate is Olivia Midgley, deputy editor, Farmers Guardian, and the panellists include:

·       Stuart Roberts, deputy president for the National Farmers Union (NFU)

·       Caroline Drummond MBE, chief executive of LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming)

·       Dr Nina Skorupska CBE, chief executive of the Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology (REA)

·       Patrick Holden CBE, chief executive for The Sustainable Food Trust

·       Sir William Worsley, chair of the Forestry Commission

Taking place at 09:30 am on 10 March, the debate is only one session in over 30 at the show, and farmers are invited to join the online debate live by registering for Low Carbon Agriculture Show Online here.

The digital event, held in association with the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), runs on 9 and 10 March 2021 and is free to attend for farmers, landowners and rural businesses.

The show’s multi-streamed conference is a unique mix of advice on sustainable farming, with four Expos to explore. The Energy Now Expo features an exhibition, accompanied by a cutting-edge conference programme, boasting sessions on all forms of renewables, energy storage, finance, energy crops and more. The Low Emission Vehicles Expo will showcase the latest low-carbon transport and machinery solutions, and highlight the related opportunities. The Environmental Business Expo will include an exhibition and conference sessions offering practical guidance to farmers on carbon and Environmental Land Management (ELM), policy, carbon storage and management, natural capital, soil health, sustainable water management, mitigating climate change and more. Suppliers of innovative agri-tech will take part in the exhibition and workshop area within the Farm Technology Expo.

As well as the highly anticipated multi-streamed conference and exhibition, attendees will be able to see and engage in real time with other visitors, make use of a live chat function, take part in video calls, one-to-one appointments, as well as group advice sessions, all organised by a personalised diary.

David Jacobmeyer, show organiser, is positive that the digital event is the most ambitious yet. “Low Carbon Agriculture 2021 has taken 12 months to pull together, with our most ambitious conference looking fantastic, and after extensive research and feedback from farmers and suppliers who have attended digital events, we have designed a show which delivers, to reach a really wide audience and ensure that farmers can access the advice they need in a time of monumental industry change.”
