Elsoms Seeds, the UK’s leading independent plant breeder, seed supplier and seed treatment specialist, has won an International Safety Award from the British Safety Council. The award recognises the company’s commitment to keeping workers and workplaces healthy and safe during 2016.

Congratulating Sophie Potts, Health and Safety Officer at Elsoms on winning the award, Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council said, “The British Safety Council commends Elsoms on their achievement. The sensible and proportionate management of health and safety risks at work brings lasting benefits for workers, their families, businesses and society as a whole. By celebrating and sharing the achievements of the winners of the International Safety Awards, we encourage businesses all over the world to follow their lead and place employees’ health and safety at the heart of their business. Our warmest congratulations.”

Now in their 59th year, the International Safety Awards are judged by a panel of independent experts and awarded to diverse organisations from around the world. Success is dependent on a company demonstrating real commitment to protecting its employees from workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the preceding calendar year.

Welcoming the news, Robin Wood, Managing Director at Elsoms Seeds said “This award is a testament not just to Sophie’s work, but to the efforts of the whole team to ensure our workplace remains safe and healthy. The wellbeing of all employees is of major importance to us and I’m delighted that our efforts in this regard have been recognized.”
