The Munro MK1 electric four-wheel drive off-road utility vehicle will be showcased alongside other low emission vehicles at the Low Carbon Agriculture Show 2023 on February 7-8, 2023, at its first trade event since launching in December 2022.
Visitors to the show, taking place at the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre (NAEC), Stoneleigh, will have the opportunity to see what Munro says is the world’s first ‘capable’ electric 4×4 vehicle, in the event’s ‘Low Emission Vehicles (LEV) Expo’ exhibition.
The agent showcasing the Munro MK1, Off-Road Electric’s director, Marc Monserrat, says that demos will be available from March onwards and the show is the perfect place to debut the model: “Low Carbon Agriculture Show is the perfect place to present the MK1 to the many farmers and landowners who are looking to reduce emissions with a reliable off-road vehicle, a 5-year 100,000-mile warranty and a long life span.”
With more low emission vehicles becoming standard on UK farms, the event will explore how farmers can become key players in the generation, storage and supply of renewable transport electricity and fuel in rural areas, as well as supplying decentralised power networks.
Exhibition
The exhibition will also see the launch of the FT25G – the world’s first commercial all-electric compact tractor, imported by Reesink Agriculture. Osprey Charging Network will be looking for freehold and leasehold land to expand its driver-recommended rapid charging network, and JCB will showcase its LEVs.
David Timmis, JCB product and marketing manager says the JCB 525-60E Agri Loadall and 35-22E Teletruk will be at the event, and visitors can talk to the JCB specialists and test drive a machine in the demonstration area.
He said: “JCB needs alternatives to power its machinery in a zero-carbon way and our engineers have successfully replaced diesel engines in certain JCB compact equipment with lithium-ion batteries. Our broad range of E-Tech products now offers agricultural customers zero emissions at point of use, low noise, smooth operation, equal performance to diesel and capabilities of a full day’s work on a single charge.”
Conference sessions
The Low Emission Vehicles Expo will feature the latest innovations in low emission agricultural machinery, including battery and biofuel powered vehicles, opportunities in rural charging infrastructure, and renewable energy with an exhibition and a dedicated conference session.
Conference sessions will be held at the event, sponsored by Osprey Charging Network and chaired by Zemo Partnership CEO Andy Eastlake, with industry experts looking at progress with UK transport decarbonisation targets and the opportunities this transition offers landowners.
Mr Eastlake says: “With Government’s commitment to end the sale of all emitting on-road vehicles by 2040 now in place, attention is already moving to the off-highway and mobile machinery market for initiatives to eliminate emissions from this sector too.
“Farmers and others involved in agriculture will need to learn from and embrace innovations in technology – like the Munro MK1 – and in fuels and operations, to play their part in the Net Zero transition.”
Speakers at the LEV conference session include:
- Jake Warwick, climate change policy advisor at the Department for Transport, will present on ‘Transitioning to a zero-emission transport sector’
- Nick McCarthy, technical specialist at Cenex, will discuss ‘Decarbonising agricultural vehicles and fuels – a look at the alternative fuel options’
- Jake Goldby, senior business development manager at Osprey Charging Network, will outline the opportunity of ‘Becoming part of the rapid EV charging network.’
Held in partnership with the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) and the Country Land and Business Association (CLA), Low Carbon Agriculture show incorporates four expos including: ‘Environmental Business Expo’, ‘Farm Technology Expo’, ‘Energy Now Expo’ and ‘Low Emission Vehicles Expo.’
