Machinery manufacturer, Väderstad, is to increase the size of its factory in Sweden by an additional 12,600m2, providing additional assembly and painting areas. The company aims to increase production capacity to 10,000 machines annually by 2028.
Väderstad has been experiencing a strong increase in demand for its products in the last few years, with turnover increasing from €237m in 2017 to €550m in 2022. In 2021, Väderstad announced the building of a new factory centre, an investment of 125 million Swedish Krona (approximately €11.2m), which will be ready for use later this year.
Henrik Gilstring, CEO of Väderstad Group, said: “The continued expansion of our factory in Väderstad is in line with our growth targets, and will benefit both our customers, our dealers and help create more job opportunities, as well as create a more efficient flow in our production.”
The site currently produces machines for all global sales regions, except for North America, where production is located at its factories in Langbank, Canada, and Wahpeton, USA.
Senior vice president, Mikael Peiponen, said: “Aside from a general increase in demand, we have also launched several new products in the last couple of years. Inspire goes in to full production this spring, while Proceed concept is in full testing and we continue to see a very large demand for our Tempo planters. This expansion will help us face the future demand for all these products.”
The decision to expand was taken at a board meeting in the end of January. Construction will start on April 1, 2023 and the new buildings are planned to be in full use by autumn 2024.
